This is what my commute looked like today; December 11, 2014.  Beautiful, mild winter day.

Three states in three days. Arizona, Nevada and California. Old Route 66, the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Mike O’Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge, Las Vegas, Laughlin, Bullhead City, Needles, the Colorado River, Lake Mead, Davis Dam and many, many places between.  Here is one of the photos from this whirlwind trip.  It is the sun setting over the Grand Canyon.  To view more, check out my Photo Travel Journal post.

To continue with my pigeon-toe – rather lack thereof – theme, see ‘Stumpy’ (centre) at Tower Hill, London, UK (adjacent to the Tower of London).  This is the little guy that opened my eyes to the phenomena of pigeons lacking toes and feet.  I am sure there is a very logical explanation to this, such as live-wires on telephone and hydro poles or electric fences?  Whatever the case, it didn’t seem to hold him back any.  Next time, I promise to move onto something less…..morbid.  Though, the blog is entitled ‘mud and bone’.

Pigeon-two-toes.  Oh, and, lower manhattan.  View from the empire state building.  One thing that I noticed quite recently, on a trip to London, UK, is that many pigeons are missing toe(s), even entire feet.  In fact, despite that this is one of my favourite NYC 2013 vacation photos, I didn’t notice his missing toe until after marvelling at all the stumpy birds I saw in London.  Life is rough in the city, I guess.  For birds too.
